Roar is a song by American popstar Katy Perry which is to be included in her fourth studio album, Prism. It is a pop song which contains elements of 'viral music' and lyrics focusing on being brave and being able to stand up for yourself. The music video is set in a jungle and follows Katy after surviving a plane crash.

Setting.

The music video is set in a jungle, which was filmed in an Arboretum in California. Setting is a key element in a music video as it sets the scene before the narrative even begins so audience can set their own scene. There are many different sets used within the music video; from a foam cave, to a bamboo cage and even the actual place where it is filmed, the arboretum.

Equipment.

Equipment is arguably one of the most important aspect of a music video as without the correct equipment, a video will not be produced to the best possible quality. Examples of equipment were HD cameras, tripods, camera dollys, cranes, microphones, sound booms and very advanced CGI and editing software.

Props/Mise en Scene

For any music video, what really separates good from great is the extent and quality of props and the mise en scene. For example with Roar, with it being an A-List music video it has an extensive budget, hence being able to hire an entire arboretum, a tiger and a plane to name a few.
