Magazine Advert Research

Magazine adverts are great ways to promote an artist, a film even an upcoming album or single within the genre in which it is based. For example, Travis Scott may advertise himself in magazines such as billboard, whereas Green Day may advertise themselves in magazines such as NME. Magazine advertising is still standing strong through the rising age of social media, whereas platforms such as radio have fallen off.

Features of a magazine advert

• The artist themself
• The name of the album/single
• Information about the artist
• Album/single release date
• A USP (Unique Selling Point) of the advert; what sells it to the audience and sets it aside from other adverts
• Social Media links

Digipack Research

Digipacks are a type of CD packaging, typically made out of card or other heavy paper material. Digipacks were originally introduced as a packaging alternative to the classic plastic CD cases.


A digipack can flip open like a book (known as a gatefold), or it can have three parts so that one portion of the packaging opens to the right and one to the left with the CD presented in the centre. 


Usually, the portion of the digipak that holds the CD is made of plastic like a traditional plastic CD case, with the plastic part attached to the paper background and cover.

Usually found in a digipack are the actual album cover, tracklist, lyrics, and even extra discs and notes from the artist themselves.

Ancillary Tasks

Now that our final music video is finished, we must work on ancillary tasks which are a magazine advert advertising our video, and a digipack CD case. I will base these two components on real life examples, attempting to conform to the conventions of real life digipacks and magazine adverts.
